Realignment
Australia minus 10 days and I'm beginning the re-adjustment to life back in the big C-O. I gotta say waking up every morning to beautiful sunrises that turn the mountains a beautiful hazy pink certainly helps. And it certainly helps having cool friends who, at the drop of a hat (or rather an early morning phone call) will join you for a 'let's enjoy the warm weather and beautiful Colorado scenery' hike.
Monday marks the beginning of October. Thinking back to this time last year and trying to remember how I filled the days when the race season ended led me to this picture. Ah yes, it was this time last year that a friend talked me into running a 1/2 marathon in Phoenix. With promise of sunny warm skies in the middle of the chilly Colorado winter, it sounded like a good idea. So Fall 2006 began with hours of feet pounding hard on the pavement (I'm not the most graceful runner), sore legs, blistered feet, and led into Winter 2006 with me wishing I hadn't already paid the entry feet and purchased the airline ticket. To top it off, the day of the marathon was one of Phoenix's coldest ever...a below-freezing 28 degrees at the start of the run...and that's how I ended up beanie-clad, shivering under a space blanket. This fall I think I'll stick to hiking and yoga. Sounds much warmer, and a lot easier on the IT bands.
'Til next time...
