Gila Day 1

Word coming in from a little Aussie birdie down in Silver City, NM on Day 1 of Tour of the Gila shows that Chris has some good form at the moment. After lots of attacks, break formed around mile 50, with Chris one of the only amateurs (maybe the only amateur) in a group of 14. He got some nice support from buddy and training partner Ben Raby who was driving the SRAM support vehicle. Sounds like SRAM is out in force at the event, and everyone is pretty excited that they stepped in to save the race this year. The leaders suffered for around 40 miles, but it was not to be with Lance telling Levi he should go win the stage. And that he did. The stage was super-fast, being 30 minutes faster than last year's.

Major congrats to CW for mixing it up with the pro teams, getting in the break, and showing that he can ride with the big boys! Sometimes the results don't always show the whole story.

On the women's front, gotta give a shout-out to my girls Shaz Allpower and neighbor Gwen Inglis who kicked some butt today and showed the rest of the girls that even though it's been raining and/or snowing every weekend in Colorado for the last 6 weeks, we'll still give you a run for your money. Oh, and to top it off, Sharon is riding Lance-style this week with a brand new plate and 8 pins in her collarbone, just like Lance (minus 4 pins). See, he's not that super-human.

Hoping for more Twitter updates today than yesterday's stage which was out in the boonies where cell service has yet to be invented.
