Surfing 102: Sometimes the ocean just beats you up.
This morning, after Trina went off to work, Greg and I headed back to the beach. We still had the surfboard we had rented on Saturday, and two hours before we had to return it. So I decided to give surfing a 2nd go-around. Surfing isn't so easy the day after a hard bike race when your legs are tired. Today the waves just pummelled me. And I didn't have the strenth to fight back. I made a few valiant efforts and stood up once or twice. But after 20 minutes, when my knees were bruised, the board had hit my in the butt a few times, and I had swallowed about a gallon of salt water, I dragged the board back on shore and called it quits...but only for now. I'll be back this way to try surfing again.
After surfing we headed over to Trader Joe's (by far the best grocery store in the country...too bad we don't have then in Colorado). I loaded up on cheap groceries to bring back with me to Denver. Oh, and we rode Greg's Vespa to the store. That was another new experience...is that new experience #7 or #8 for this trip? I'll have to tally them up when the adventure is all over.
