...at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt...

My Last Night at the Beach:

Monday was my last full day in sunny SoCal. So what were we going to do? Go to the beach...again!!! I'd already been surfing in the morning, but when Trina got home from work, we decided to head to LaJolla Cove for some fun in the sun. Greg took the kayak out while Trina and I played horseshoes on the beach (another first for me!).

Look at my beautiful form!

Trina hustled me. She let me get ahead by 7 points, then pulled off the biggest comeback in horseshoe history.

Look at our skills: we each got 2 horseshoes around the ring.

The triathlete club come out in force for an evening training swim. Practicing your open water swim makes perfectly good sense, but I still think it's a novel idea...I though people only trained in swimming pools. I'm learning all kinds of new things on this trip!

When we were worn out from throwing horseshoes, we wrote messages in the sand.

One for the Mom.

And one for the Pops.

I wish I could take credit for this very skillfully carved Sponge Bob sand drawing, but I am not that artistic. About the only thing I can draw is a tree, which I learned how to do in 3rd grade. We just happened upon this work of art when we were playing on the beach, and the artist was nowhere in sight.

Two cool (and a bit sunburnt!) surfer chicks hanging out at the beach. I need to work on my camera-angeling skills.
