Pro 4 a Day..

After 4 years living in Denver, the last 2 years spent riding a bike all over the Denver metro area, there are still towns and roads I've never explored. Check another place off my list of places traveled to with the epic Denver to Deckers to Buffalo Creek ride through the mountains on Saturday. Best of all I rode this one in style going pro 4 a day complete with coach, sag vehicle support, and a cooler of ice to keep me cool in the 98 degree heat. My coach appropriately dubbed this ride "Heidemann's Death March" - 78 miles (125k), 5.5 hours, and 12,000 feet (3657.6 m) of climbing. Even the descents were hard on this course, going Paris Roubaix-style with 10 percent grades on dirt roads filled with hand-numbing washboards. Thankfully there was plenty of company, chatting, and water to keep us pedaling. I finished the ride exhausted, but with a smile on my face and hungrier for more days like this one.

I jumped on the Bagel Boy train for part of the day, keeping up with the Team Einstein elite squad (aka sitting in their draft) . Thanks for the ride boys.

Um...should I have brought a bullet-proof vest on this ride? Technically humans are mammals, therefore the sign suggests it's legal to shoot humans in the mountains outside of Denver. Just a bit of attorney logic for you to ponder..

'Til next time. Cheers. Kat
